Ranked third in rookie rebounding behind Elton Brand and Lamar Odom. Led the Rockets in total rebounds during his first NBA season, standing with Brand as the only rookies to lead a team in rebounds. Tied Andre Miller for fourth among rookies with eight double-doubles. Grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds vs. Atlanta on April 1, 2000, becoming the first NBA rookie to reach 20 rebounds since Tim Duncan and the first Rockets rookie to reach this mark since Hakeem Olajuwon. Named Honorable Mention All-America by The Associated Press after junior and senior seasons. A four-year starter who led New Mexico to its best four-year record in school history, 102-30 with four consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. Is the first player in WAC history to record 1,800 points, 1,000 rebounds and 200 blocks. Started 119 out of 123 games played. Recorded 34 career double-doubles. Sat out the 1998 fall semester as a result of a settlement with the NCAA regarding his initial eligibility. In August of 1995, the NCAA ruled that he was one-half credit short of the necessary high school core courses. A member of the U.S. team that won the gold medal at the 1997 World University Games in Trapani, Italy.
