���Steve Francis was raised by both his mother, and grandmother. He attended 3 different high schools, due to his mom's job. But went back to his home school so he could graduate with his friends. His mother suffered a hearth attack that year and Steve dropped out. He re entered a school and attended to Connecticut Academy, until his tuition fell through. Then he moved back to his hometown. During his high school career Steve only started in one game.He was drafted into the NBA after leading Maryland to the NCCA tournament, he was named first All American by Sports Illustrated. Before his rookie season was over he was traded from Vancouver to the Rockets in a three-team trade. He shared Rookie of the Year honors with Elton Brand of the Chicago Bulls. In Rockets history, Steve Francis ranks 4th in career scoring average, 2nd in career assists average, 3rd in career steals average, 4th in triple-doubles, 5th in three-pointers made and 6th in steals. Stood with Kevin Garnett as the only NBA players to average 20 points with six rebounds and six assists in 2002-03. He has scored a career-high of 44 points with 11 assists, becoming the first player in Rockets history to reach 40 points and 10 assists in the same game. He also has 69 career double-doubles and six career triple-doubles. He became the 1st player in franchise history to register 400 rebounds and 500 assists in the same season. He also finished as the runner up to Vince Carter in the NBA Slam Dunk Constest.
